Sherwood is a suburban city of Little Rock in Pulaski County. As of June 2008, the city was home to 26,381 residents. Sherwood is Arkansas' 16th-largest city.

Education

The Pulaski County Special School District manages the city's public schools. It is the 2nd-largest school district in the state and among the largest 5,000 in the nation. The district administers to over 30 schools. Several private schools are also available, including Victory Baptist Elementary School, Central Arkansas Christian School, and Abundant Life School, a co-ed school for children in pre-kindergarten through grade 12. Many Sherwood students attend local universities such as the University of Arkansas at Little Rock and the University of Central Arkansas. Within a 50-mile radius of the city, there are 16 institutions of higher education, including Philander Smith College, Arkansas Baptist College, and the University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton.

Recreation and Leisure

With so many year-round activities, there's always something to do in Sherwood. Several sports leagues are offered for all ages in the spring and summer each year and fishing, swimming, and pot luck luncheons are always going on. The Bill Harmon Recreation Center and the 17 community parks provide arenas for all sorts of outdoor activities. Amenities at the facilities include tracks, playgrounds, pools, tennis courts and fishing at some of the most scenic lakes in Central Arkansas. The Bill Harmon Recreation Center is open to the public and provides a gymnasium, track, Olympic-sized pool and exercise equipment. Every year, the city also holds several annual festivals throughout the year, including the Sherwood Fest, the Halloween festival and the Christmas Parade.
